Last day in DC

It was so hot in DC today, you could barely breathe and the kids (especially the younger two) are definitely NOT used to the extreme heat. We spent the morning at the Museum of Natural History seeing the Hope Diamond (ooooh) and giant dinosaur skeletons (aaahh). Leaving there, we had lunch at the fountain in the sculpture garden just next door. We thought about going to get on a tour at Capitol Hill and headed in that direction when James saw advertised 'free admission for kids' at the Newseum. Now I've been wanting to go to the Museum but James insists we should take advantage of all the free Smithsonian Museums because - you can never see a space shuttle or giant woolly mammoth too many times - right? Wrong I insisted, so we went on to the Newseum to check it out. James balked at the $20/adult entry fee (but that's only $60 for 7 people! I insisted). Nope. So as he stewed and I sulked on the front doorstep, a couple from MD walks out, notices how sorry we all look (Emmett was just laying on the marble trying to cool off) and hands us two tickets (because they were good for two days' entry they told us). Sweet. $20 for 7 people is sounding a lot better to James so we head on in but not before he shoves the tickets in to my hand because, you know, he cannot tell a lie (I'm calling him George, as in George Washington, from now on. You all remember the famous quote that begins "I cannot tell a lie....blah, blah, blah"). So his mother and I, having no problem with any of this, storm up to the entrance. A few minutes later we were all enjoying the Newseum, which I highly recommend you visit some day!
