What a busy day! We started off at the Independence National Historic Park Visitor Center to pick up our tickets for our Independence hall tour. The kids were all gien Junior Park Ranger books. They had a ton of fun following the book, completing activities to earn their 'junior ranger' badges. Emmett basically carried his younger siblings (see pic of Aidan getting some help from his little brother!). We visited the Liberty Bell Center, Independence hall, Congress Hall, Portrait Gallery in the Second Bank, Printing Office, Franklin Court and Market Street Houses, and the Christ Church Burial Ground. We also swung by the Betsy Ross House, the first Post Office/Museum and Elfreth's Alley (oldest residential street in America). Great Essentials and West Wing were closed due to 4th of July celebration preparations (and there was a ceremony taking place out back for some soon-to-be American Citizens which we were invited to join but couldn't due to a timed tour we had booked - Boston Children's Youth Choir was singing at th event and sounded great). Lunch for most of us consisted of Philly Cheesesteak at Campo's. Emmett and I had the most amazing pizza at Soho's (both on Market St.). At the end of a very tiring day the kids went to claim their NPS Junior Ranger Badges and we all went to enjoy a delicious frozen treat at Franklin's Fountain. Everyone we met in Philadelphia - locals and visitors alike - was extremely friendly. We hopped in the car at around 6:30 p.m. to head back to the hotel but not before we made on last important stop.....
