Traveling to Zion

It took no time to travel the 110 miles from Grand Canyon to Zion. The sweet smell of creosote filled the air and once we reached Utah we were treated to some spectacular views of the Colorado Plateau. The thermometer rose sharply as we descended – a welcome change for me but not everyone else in the family. Highlight of the day: spectacular views of the many rock formations, including Checkerboard Rock and several blind arches, as we descended along winding roads and through tunnels to reach the Canyon. Funniest moment of the day: breakfast before we left the Canyon, Emmett found the ‘world’s largest’ cornflake and then put it in his pocket to keep. A tarantula even larger than the one we found in Carlsbad greeted us in the evening as we were clearing up and getting ready for bed for the night. Sweet dreams.
